Second annual Wine Expo next weekend

If your idea of a good time is tasting a bit of the crushed and fermented grape, then the 2nd annual NY Wine Expo, February 27th through March 1st, at the Jacob Javits Center is decidedly the event of the year.
Over 170 winemakers and 600 products will be on site for oenophiles and lesser wine enthusiasts to enjoy. Talk to the people who make the wine and pick up tips for selecting, pairing, pricing and serving the right vintage.
Tickets for the general public are $85 for Friday and $95 for Saturday.
Culinary experts Martin Yan of Yan Can Cook, Ian Knauer of Gourmet, and Michael Nischan of the Victory Garden will be featured presenters.

Noted author and lecturer Kevin Zraly leads his highly acclaimed one-hour, fast-paced, action-packed wine seminar. Zraly,
often called the "one man Cirque du Soleil" takes you on a tasting tour
of Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and

Saturday, February 28. 2009
1:30 PM "A Passion For Portugal"
Michael Weiss co author of Exploring Wine and WineWise and chair of
wine studies at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New
York shares his knowledge and passion for Portuguese wines.
In this seminar Portuguese wine labels will be demystified, indigenous
grape varieties will be tasted, and both conventional and
innovative wine pairings will be discussed. Techniques to promote
Portuguese
wines in restaurants will also be presented. Cost: $25.00
