E&J Gallo puts the Y chromosome into its branding campaign

I'll take my Redwood with a water back

With the possible exception of certain white Zins which shall remain anonymous (you know who you are) and the aptly named Bitch, we thought all wines were intrinsically male.
Isn't the job of the male to woo and intoxicate?  Enough said.

But apparently, wooing and intoxicating are simply not rugged and manly enough in the world of wine-making.

Enter E&J Gallo with their latest offering - Redwood Creek, which targets the 35- to 65-year-old male.  That's a pretty big group being targeted, Mr. Gallo. we're thinking skater boy to early retirement Wall Streeter.

But, what do we know?

Redwood Creek wines retail for $6.99-$9.99 in the US. The brand is already a 2M case seller stateside and rolls out in the UK with an appeal to the "rugged outdoorsman" type.

Personally, we picture Prince Chuck after a hard afternoon of pheasant hunting hoisting a cup.
